Gargoyles (Loving Aachen I)

Why should one be interested in the most western city of Germany, Aachen? Because it’s beautiful. In the weeks to come I’ll try to give you some impressions.

Today: Gargoyles. Not only Notre Dame de Paris got some of those.

The thing is: At first glance the heart of Aachen (Dom/Cathedral and City Hall) does not seem too impressive, the devil lies within the details. The part of the Dom with the gargoyles dates from around 1400, but there are are much older parts, dating back to 800. Let’s have a closer look at the Dom and some gargoyles:
