Waiting

My grandfather was 87 years old when I shot this picture of him. We were in Würzburg in Bavaria and sightseeing the grave of the medieval poet Walter von der Vogelweide, who lived around 1200.

The men of grandpas graduation class of 195? meet once a year and visit spots in Germany. Each year their number declines – they are all in their eighties now. But they’ll meet again next year. I’m sure of it.

  1. Ein wirklich tolles Foto! *kompliment

  2. Nice photograph. Your grandfather looks like a fashionable gentleman.

It is pretty cool that he meets every year with his old buddy. It is great and rare when people can stay in contact and friends over that long a period of time with all the changes that take place. Cheers.

I won’t tell him the fashionable-bit 😉 We sometimes make fun of his sunglasses, because they date back from the 50s or 60s – as he likes to point out.

But you’re right about staying in contact during times like those and these.

Sunglasses are great. And it’s awesome that they are still meeting.
